Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif urged the nation to pledge for developing Pakistan as a welfare state purging it of all evils like sectarianism, extremism, terrorism and egoism. In his message on the occasion of Iqbal Day commemorated on November 9 every year marking his birth anniversary, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the great poet and thinker Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
He said Iqbal had given a ray of hope to the Muslims of the sub-continent by floating the idea of creation of Pakistan and also reminded the Muslims of their glorious past through his writings.
Allama Iqbal also promoted self-respect and self-recognition among the Muslims and preached them faith in Allah Almighty as it emboldened one to face all challenges.
The Prime Minister said that Allama Iqbal also persuaded the Muslims of the sub-continent to fight for independence that helped them achieve a separate homeland.
He said Iqbal always preached unity and his thought proved to be a beacon for the Muslims. His writings are read and recognized with reverence across the world.
“Amidst prevailing scenario, we should inculcate his thought in our lives to become an ideal for the world.We should purge our country of all evils through forging unity amongst us and introduce Pakistan as an ideal Islamic welfare state to the world in accordance with Iqbal’s thinking,” the Prime Minister advised.
