Message by the High Commissioner on the occasion of National Day of Pakistan 23rd March 2025

Pakistan’s National Day, observed on March 23rd, marks a defining moment in the country’s history. On this day in 1940, the All-India Muslim League, during its general session in Lahore, passed the historic Lahore Resolution—widely known as the Pakistan Resolution. This resolution laid the ideological foundation for the creation of Pakistan, ultimately leading to its independence in 1947. It remains a symbol of determination, unity, and the right to self-determination for the people of Pakistan.
On this auspicious occasion, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to the Pakistani community and friends of Pakistan in Sri Lanka. Pakistan and Sri Lanka share a long-standing and enduring friendship, with Sri Lanka being among the first nations to establish diplomatic ties with Pakistan in 1948. As we celebrate 77 years of strong bilateral relations in 2025, this partnership has grown into a multi-dimensional collaboration encompassing trade, defense, education, and cultural exchanges, built on mutual trust and shared aspirations.
Pakistan is on a path of sustainable growth, driven by transformative initiatives such as the Uraan Pakistan plan, aimed at fostering inclusive economic development. Positive indicators—including reduced inflation, increasing foreign exchange reserves, and a rapidly expanding IT sector—highlight the country’s progress. In this spirit of growth and cooperation, Pakistan warmly invites Sri Lankan investors and entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in key sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and technology. The government remains committed to fostering a business-friendly environment through progressive policies and investment facilitation.
On this special day, Pakistan reaffirms its steadfast support for Sri Lanka’s prosperity, peace, and national unity. May the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka continue to strengthen in the years ahead, bringing mutual success and deeper cooperation.
Long Live Pakistan-Sri Lanka Friendship!
