High Commissioner of Pakistan visit to Puttalam, North Western
High Commissioner of Pakistan Maj. Gen. (R) Faheem Ul Aziz, HI (M) visited Puttalam on 23rd June 2024, to attend an event in Muslim Hands-School of Excellence. The High Commissioner was briefed about the Muslim Hands projects in Sri Lanka, especially the School of Excellence.
Thanking the organizers for a very warm welcome, the High Commissioner stated that Pakistan is fully committed in facilitating and enabling youth in Sri Lanka to pursue their educational dreams by acquiring Higher Education. In this regard the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan announced fully funded Scholarships to deserving Sri Lankan students across the Island. So far more than 480 students are studying in Pakistan’s leading universities under Allama Iqbal Scholarship program at graduate, post-graduate and doctorate level.
To support the pursuit of Muslim Hands School of Excellence, the High Commissioner also distributed ration bags for the deserving families of students & locals of Puttalam, cricket Kits to assist sports activity and computers for IT related education. The High Commissioner undertook that Pakistan will keep supporting such initiatives & the local communities in Sri Lanka in the field of Education with same zeal and zest in the future. The High Commissioner also distributed certificates among the students.
During briefing, the Country Director Muslim Hands, Sri Lanka Mr. Mihlar, briefed that the School was established in 2010 with a vision to provide quality education to the deserving citizens in Puttalam, Sri Lanka. Moreover, he shared that at present school is providing education to more than 1100 students irrespective of cast, creed or religion. It caters to students from Grade 1 up to high secondary level including orphan children. The school also maintains a hostel facility for boys belonging to far flung areas.
