Pakistan Education EXPO-2024 – Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Sri Lankan Students

The Pakistan High Commission, Colombo in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan held seminars and road shows in different parts of Sri Lanka in connection with Education Expo 2024 from 8-15 May 2024. The events were organized by the HEC with participation of representatives of reputed universities from Pakistan to create awareness about the Allama Iqbal Scholarships that Pakistan has been offering to Sri Lankan students for the past many years.

Under the Allama Iqbal Scholarships programme, the government of Pakistan offers fully and partially funded scholarships to Sri Lankan students at Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate level in leading universities of Pakistan.

The Education Expo 2024 concluded with the holding of a mega event at the BMICH on 15 May 2024. The event was attended by a large number of Sri Lankan students and their parents as well other Sri Lankan dignitaries. Addressing the event, the High Commissioner of Pakistan, Maj. Gen. Retd. Faheem ul Aziz HI (M) gave an overview of the excellent bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka including close cooperation in the field of education. The High Commissioner appreciated the efforts by the visiting delegation in further promoting people to people contacts between the two brotherly countries. He reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support towards Sri Lanka in its journey for progress and prosperity.

During the mega event, the HEC team apprised the audience about the overall objectives of the Educational Expo 2024, apart from briefing about the Allama Iqbal Scholarship Program. Representatives from the prominent universities of Pakistan also displayed their stalls.
