Message from Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Pakistan Day (23rd March 2024)
I extend my heartfelt felicitations to my fellow Pakistanis on the occasion of our National Day.
Today, we honour the courageous struggle of our forefathers, their foresight in adoption of the historic Pakistan Resolution of 1940 and their solid determination that culminated in the hard-won independence.
Pakistan came into being despite tremendous odds. Our forefathers overcame every obstacle to independence, with courage, grit and resilience.
On this day we reflect on our collective journey since 1947, learn from our experiences, and look ahead to the future with renewed faith.
I urge my compatriots to continue to excel in their chosen fields, vocations and enterprise; for in their success, achievement and excellence lies the country’s development and progress.
In the comity of nations, Pakistan has distinguished itself by standing for the supremacy of UN Charter and international law. It has upheld the principles of sovereign equality of states and peaceful settlement of disputes. Throughout our history we have stood by developing countries and supported the right of self-determination of peoples under foreign occupation and colonialism.
We are committed to upholding multilateralism and developing friendly relations with countries in all regions of the world. Combating climate change, Islamophobia and terrorism remain our key priorities.
Support for the Kashmir cause has always been a pillar of Pakistan’s foreign policy. As we celebrate Pakistan Day, we also remember our Kashmiri brothers and sisters who are enduring extreme hardships imposed by the Indian occupation forces in Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan stands steadfast with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their just quest for self-determination.
Our hearts also ache for our Palestinian brethren who are facing the worst forms of war crimes under an oppressive occupation. Pakistan will continue to call for an urgent and unconditional ceasefire, lifting of the siege and humanitarian relief to the people of Gaza.
On this Pakistan Day, I would like to send my special greetings and best wishes to Overseas Pakistanis. I wish to convey them my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for their patriotism, dedication, and perseverance. Every day, they proudly represent Pakistan abroad and make important contributions in shaping Pakistan’s future success. I want them to always remember that Pakistan is their home, just as they are an integral part of Pakistan.
Pakistan Paindabad!
