PAKISTAN HIGH COMMISSION DONATES SEWING MACHINES AND COMPUTER UNITS TO FATHIMA WELFARE CENTRE FOR ORPHANAGE AND HOSTEL FOR GIRLS
The Pakistan High Commission, in collaboration with the All-Ceylon Muslim Women’s Association, successfully organized a donation event for donating sewing machines and computer units to the Fathima Welfare Centre for Orphanage and Hostel for Girls.
Recognizing the importance of empowering young women with practical skills, the Pakistan High Commission, on 75 Anniversary of friendship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, generously donated sewing machines and computer units to enhance their vocational training and educational opportunities. These activities are regularly carried out by the Pakistan High Commission on behalf of the Government of Pakistan in line with the latter’s resolve to strengthen people to people contacts between the two friendly countries.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday (27th) at the Fathima Welfare Centre, with members of the All-Ceylon Muslim Women’s Association, distinguished guests, and the girls from the orphanage in attendance.
The donation of sewing machines aims to equip the girls with valuable skills in dressmaking and tailoring, enabling them to develop a means of livelihood and self-sustainability. Moreover, the provision of computer units will enhance their educational opportunities, allowing them to explore the digital world and access valuable resources for their academic pursuits.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the Fathima Welfare Centre, expressing gratitude to the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan High Commission for their invaluable contribution.
